Nostalgia & History > From an F Unit for Friday: A Historic Area in 1992Date: 10/03/25 06:52 From an F Unit for Friday: A Historic Area in 1992 Author: bandob Seen from the cab of F7 Western Maryland #236, the line from the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore joins the CSX Mt. Care Branch, about one mile West of the museum roundhouse. The Branch is part of the Baltimore Terminal Subdivision. Just beyond the curve ahead is the Carrollton Viaduct. This is the first stone arch bridge in the US, opening in 1830. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and continues in regular use.

I had the pleasure of riding in that same Western Maryland F unit #236 on several occasions over the museum trackage back when the original folks, including the Executive Director John Ott was in charge. Those were special times for sure.
