The baggage-coach seen here, #282, is one of several of these cars that the CGW acquired secondhand from the C&O. At least two of which later went to MofW service, which is how one ended up in the collection of the Illinois RY Museum. (There was another post here years ago by Marty which showed the two during their MofW career.) Chicago Great Western Train 8 seen in > Dubuque, IA Nov. or Dec. 1955 I wonder about the 1955 date, since Dubuque was on the line to Chicago, and I had thought that CGW passenger service to Chicago did not last until 1955. And, while searching for a recent post elsewhere that I recalled (discussing the CGW #100 in the other post), I came across yet another post, regarding another of these CGW ex-C&O combines which is/was also still extant, located in Nebraska at least until a few years ago, still in faded MofW orange paint. |
