Gildersleeve copy slide classics (vol 79): RSDs at Summit
Author: santafe199

Set 216, caption #26 reads: “ALCO power at Summit, Dec. 17, 1967.” That seems to work, maybe?

1. AT&SF 2158 at Summit, CA on December 17, 1967.
Photo by Tom Gildersleeve. Commercial Ektachrome copy slide from set #216.
Scanned from the late James W. Watson collection.

Thanks for looking back!

Santa Fe RSD-5’s worked the majority of their careers in the middle of the system, but some did serve in California briefly when they were new, and the last survivors returned to work their final years on the LA Division.

At least two worked the San Jacinto branch local in the 1967/1968 timeframe.  I once saw three.
