Nostalgia & History > SP East near Mojave 1982Date: 11/04/25 02:30 SP East near Mojave 1982 Author: choochoochas A bit of SP power at Milepost #377 as an eastbound descends the Tehachapi grade into Mojave California on July 19th, 1982. The power consist was #9201, #8351, UP #3511, #8521, #8306, #8364, #9024 and #7330.

This train had about 100 cars with some Oregon made wood products in it and was probably the EULAY or the SELAY. There were no helpers in this train but they might have taken the helpers out at Tehachapi and added them to the head end power. And according to my notes I made a sound recording of this train. Probably some heavy dynamic brake sounds there.
