Marking of Fouling Points on the SP in the 70s/80s

According to Google, the SP marked fouling points with paint at some point. Previously with wooden or metal signs. What was the practice in the 70s/80s in the Los Angeles Division? I'm presuming paint, and if so, where was it marked and what color(s) was used? I haven't seen any photos for reference.
