An acquaintance recently purchased an old (1880) Boarding Axe marked for both Wells Fargo and Santa Fe Railroad.  I have an idea what it was used for, possibly protection as well as used in work by the couriers who rode trains for Wells Fargo, protecting valuable shipments in the late 1800s.  

For the rocerd, I searched but didn't find much, maybe the assembled experts on board here might have a better story than mine.

Looks like something the gate dragons at NYPenn would use for crowd control. 

I'm not surprised that you received so few responses. There seems to be little interest in artifacts on T O .Com!
