Nostalgia & History > Wells Fargo Boarding AxeDate: 12/06/25 15:11 Wells Fargo Boarding Axe Author: roustabout An acquaintance recently purchased an old (1880) Boarding Axe marked for both Wells Fargo and Santa Fe Railroad. I have an idea what it was used for, possibly protection as well as used in work by the couriers who rode trains for Wells Fargo, protecting valuable shipments in the late 1800s.
For the rocerd, I searched but didn't find much, maybe the assembled experts on board here might have a better story than mine. Images attached of the object. Very nice find, I am a bit jealous.
