Warren Wing was a railfan author. I have ended up with about 1000 of his slides. Today I found these gems. These are original Kodachromes from 1946 which look like they were taken yesterday. I did very little photo editing. 1. Pacific Electric 1026, San Pedro on June 28, 1946. No other information. 2. Pacific Electric 1299, Los Angeles on June 27, 1946. At the terminal at 6th and Main. It is now in the collection of the Orange Empire Railway Museum and is an/the Officer’s Car built by Pullman in 1912. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/06/25 20:25 by MartyBernard. Warren W. Wing was the author of two volumes which cover the interurban railways in the Seattle area, between said city and both Tacoma and Everett; the latter volume also including the separate line between Mount Vernon and Bellingham further to the north. All three segments were part of a larger unrealized plan for an interurban network that would also reach locales such as Olympia. Like so many interurbans, the growth of the automobile and the highway system put an end to such ideas, and all three lines are now lost to history. Only now do we once again have meaningful rail mass transit in the central Puget Sound region, after many many missed opportunities through the decades since the original lines were lost.
