Fred Date: 01/16/26 22:46 Re: Switcher Saturday - MPA 81 Author: MacBeau Nice, one of two NW2's built for them in December 1946 and a survivor at Strastburg. Could not find a date when ICC stopped the practice of poling, but 1978 seems late to still be carrying one on the locomotive.

As a boy, I remember them coming into Baltimore along Falls Road, right where the Baltimore Streetcar Museum is located today. Back then, in the 1950's, they were really an antique railroad in so many ways. They stopped coming in to Baltimore in 1958, they pulled up their rails, and then they sold as much of their land as they could to property owners all along their right-of-way. The City of Baltimore purchased the property and buildings along Falls Road and now the Streetcar Museum is there.
