What other US stations had showers, especially in 1967?
The attendant was just on duty at train time? Year round?

I remember the 25 Cent toilets in the old Reading Terminal. Different day and age.

To put this in a little bit of perspective, typical shower costs at truck stops like Pilot and Love's are in the $17.00 to $18.00 range today.

I think that's about right.  I remember showering there once too, although probably a few years later.

Thread minor hijack...similar situation currently still exists at the major European gateway airports.  If you're traveling business class, the Lufthansa lounges in Frankfurt and Munich have shower facilities at no charge, complete with the large paper towels provided by Amtrak (at least at one time.)  Amsterdam has two facilities inside the airport with rest cabins and showers that require a passport and a plane ticket for that day, charge last time I was there was about 20 Euros,

I'm sure the other gateways have similar services, these three were at one time my normal connection locations... and being young and stupid, I used them to clean up to make calls that day  .
