Nostalgia & History > Some Union Pacific goodies in KS & NE, September, 1997Date: 02/06/26 15:26 Some Union Pacific goodies in KS & NE, September, 1997 Author: Guitartrain 1. A Union Pacific S/B coal train with C44AC-6625 & SD9043AC-8028 is parked just north of Crawford Avenue in the former Missouri-Kansas-Texas yard. The classic grain elevator has long since been removed and replaced with seven circular grain bins. 5:11PM on 9-7-97 in Parsons, KS.
2. Most likely from the Powder River Basin, an E/B Union Pacific coal train has just crossed Emmett Road, on UP's Kansas Sub, in this view from the KS Rt. 63 overpass. A GE trio, C44AC-6573 & C40-8s-9262 & 9245, is on the point. The first two cars are empty. I wonder why. I've not heard of coal trains running with buffer cars. 10:44AM on 9-9-97 in Emmett, KS. 3. Union Pacific SD9043AC-8157 is parked W/B, in Rudy Siding, on UP's Marysville Sub, with SSW/Cotton Belt GP60-9635. 3:55PM on 9-9-97 in Endicott, NE.
