Nostalgia & History > How to connect traction motors, with this slug?Date: 02/06/26 16:59 How to connect traction motors, with this slug? Author: timz Twelve motors powered by two generators --
one switcher generator couldn't supply enough amps for three pairs of motprs, each pair being in series, could it? Wouldn't you need three motors in series? Which means one motor on each switcher in series with two motors on the slug? Would that work? https://railphoto.historyit.com/items/view/digital-museum/78629 Date: 02/06/26 17:13 Re: How to connect traction motors, with this slug? Author: HotWater timz Wrote:

Thus, each switcher main generator would be powering 6 traction motors. Well within the capabilities of those main generators. Not much voltage for speed, but current more than does the job for humping operations. Date: 02/07/26 06:57 Re: How to connect traction motors, with this slug? Author: KMB886 They found at low speeds the generator was very underutilized and had excess capacity. Feeding another set of traction motors allowed "full" use of what was already being generated.
