EL freight in Akron
Author: gcm

Dec 1975
An Erie Lackawanna train eastbound with an all GE lineup just past JO Tower.
The B&O-Penn Central tracks on the left.
The remnants to the left was the site of Union Station torn down in 1950.
Here are some other images and info on that site I posted a while back ----

stark scene, but a good view of how it was. I hadn't seen the other images before, very interesting thread. Thanks.

Great scene - How thankful I am that you are sharing your photos of a different Akron than I usually railfanned. I am getting a different appreciation of what Akron railroading was and is.

Great shot Gary , thanks for sharing it with us .  It really shows how big the EL 3300s were when you look at the first and second units .

Cool shot! On behalf of my good friend and late KS Gang bro Dave Franz, who was a huge EL fan. Thanks! :^)

Always like your Akron material. Looks like the EL had just installed some ribbonnrail on track #1. That Park St bridge is long gone too.
