Really nice photos.  Quite the signal bridge.  The second shot really has character.  Those shop pix are interesting...the floor is clean and orderly.  They must have had pride in their work.

The E8 cab is interesting .... they were not "removable," so how did it end up on the shop floor? And why?

Thanks Don !
This post made my day for sure. The last days of the late great Erie Lackawanna.

That E8 cab sure looks strange.

I wonder too what that 12-567B engine was allocated to go into.

And do you know what that 3rd unit (GP7) on the Scranton 99 was ?

1272 was the third unit and the E8 cab shot that might be a lower track with the floor level with the frame

Thanks, Makes sense, and then probably that 567B is going into that E unit.

Don,

Great shots. 3676 lost it's plow before Conrail as shown here. Conrail installed one shortly after the merger.

There was no second level in the high bay. I wonder if it is the cab off of 823 that was parted out late in EL's existence.

Strictly a guess, but the EL had a second EMD re-engined RS3u (1061) pretty far along before the merger. I wonder if that was where that engine was headed.

Congrats on the IOTD !!

So, based on what NYSWSD70M posted, no hi-level platform in the high bay, could it actually be the cut off cab of the 823 ?

And I see a striiped down 567B in the photo also.

An excellent look back at the very last days of the EL.
