Nostalgia & History > Missing PR photos from Santa FeDate: 03/02/26 14:30 Missing PR photos from Santa Fe Author: edsaalig On May 20, 1952, Santa Fe first introduced it's two new RDC cars. The first photo is of a non-revenue run near Del Mar on May 20, 1952. This was one of three Public Relations photos taken that day. (photo 1) After years of research I found the negative of the second photo that was taken that same day but was never published. Same train just opposite side. (photo 2) Photo 3 is just a closeup of photo 2. Photos taken by the Santa Fe Railway Company.

Bob Date: 03/02/26 15:13 Re: Missing PR photos from Santa Fe Author: ClubCar Great photos from the Santa Fe. You know. with the success of those Budd RDC's on several railroads, including the beloved B&O here in the east, I'm still amazed that many more railroads did not purchase and operate them on their lines back in those good-ole-days.
John in White Marsh, Maryland Date: 03/02/26 17:30 Re: Missing PR photos from Santa Fe Author: Hou74-76 These are indeed historic treasures. Thrilling to think that one can still find missing photos or negatives after more than 70 years. Out of nothing more than curiosity, what was the archive base you dug through to find them? You deserve a medal!

Date: 03/02/26 21:03 Re: Missing PR photos from Santa Fe Author: railstiesballast I suspect that the Santa Fe was happy to see memories of their RDC's fade away after the Redondo Jct overspeed/rollover disaster.
This was in the era that the late Stan Kistler did some commercial work for them, could he have taken these? Date: 03/04/26 09:54 Re: Missing PR photos from Santa Fe Author: edsaalig It was not known who took these photos. It could have been Stan??
