Nostalgia & History > UP varnish at CalhounDate: 03/03/26 10:31 UP varnish at Calhoun Author: santafe199 Hey, it’s Saturday and Bill Gibson was out in the trenches doing what he did best. He was converting current RR scenes into durable Kodachrome slide film history. THANK-YOU Bill!!! :^)
1. UP 946 leading a shrinking train #17, the “Portland Rose”, at Calhoun Bluffs NE of Topeka, KS. Bill’s slide notes: The 946 was re# to AMTK 423. 2. UP 926 leading train #10, the “City of St Louis”, also at Calhoun Bluffs. Bill’s slide notes: UP 926 was re-built to: 2400 HP E-9m. And AMTK 325, was re# to: 437 while on Santa Fe*, then re# to: AMTK 367 in April 1976 (all subject to correction). Original Kodachrome slides taken March 9, 1968 by William A. Gibson Sr, now in the James T. Wilson collection. Thanks for looking back!
