The End (pt 164): Logan, UT in '48
Author: santafe199

The thought of shooting color slides 3 only years after WWII is almost inconceivable. But there Mr Emil Albrecht was, out there doing just that. And what an amazing slice of history we have here! No doubt just an everyday scene for Emil back then… :^)

1. UP caboose 3384 awaits work at Logan, UT on May 5, 1948.
EK copy slide by Emil Albrecht, from the late James W. Watson collection.

Thanks for looking back!

Wow, and it was just another day in America on the railroad. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Strange that the train order signal appears to be between the tracks instead of the more normal next to depot?

No reason why it can't be between the tracks.

Very nice!  Believe that car would have "LA&SL" sublettering just above the number - would have been a class CA-1 built 1/24 by OWRR&N, retired 5/57 (see https://utahrails.net/caboose/caboose-wood-roster-5.html#lasl_ca-1_3373-3420).  Always great to see Emil's pics.

Yes no reason but highly unusual.  First time I've seen that.
