I was running train 991 down this street back in the early '90's when I hit a beautiful, cherry, 1965 Pontiac Bonniville 2plus2. That broke my heart to hit that car.

I have to ask Gordon.  First do you remember the RR speed limit down that street? and did the driver of that beautiful, cherry, 1965 Pontiac Bonniville do something stupid to get hit by your train?  Great shot Tom!

At that time it was not exceeding 20 mph. There was a Ford Crown Vic coming towards me in the opposite lane. The Pontiac was coming off a side street to my right. The driver sa me and started to cross, not seeing the Ford. He T-boned the Ford and looked up at me and bailed! I thought he had time to back up, but I guess he felt he didn't. I pushed it around to my left and up against a pole.

Not just any SD45-2 - AT&SF 5855 was Santa Fe's "SD-CAT," with a Caterpillar 3612 prime mover purring inside!
