Some shots from July 1972 taken from the pedestrian walkway at Taylor Yard in Los Angeles.  All this is gone now, partially replaced by a Metrolink maintenance facility, but also much of it just vacant land.   I was 16 at the time, and if I went here by myself the SP cops would throw me off the walkway, but if I went with my grandfather - no problem!    So I usually talked my grandfather into going.  It wasn't hard.  

1)  SP Baldwin S-12 #2154 moving around with a caboose.    Love those gigundo headlights!

3)  Westbound train pulling in behind U25B #6759.  2nd unit is a B&O GP-40 far from home!    And check out the 2nd and 3rd freight cars in the train - early containers?
