Nostalgia & History > SP East at Cruzatte 1989Date: 04/01/26 02:32 SP East at Cruzatte 1989 Author: choochoochas Southern Pacific rebuilt SD45 b#7511 leads an Eastbound train downgrade in full dynamics coming out of tunnel #5 into Cruzatte on SP's Cascade line in Oregon on June 8th, 1989. The second shot is the caboose #4659 on the end of the train showing the old water tank that was there at the time. This is where they used to have the steam engines stop to fill the tenders with water in the days of steam. Wicopee was another water stop for steam engines climbing the grade.
