Nostalgia & History > Nevada Northern Visit 2004Date: 04/08/26 13:49 Nevada Northern Visit 2004 Author: Pete4501 My wife and I drove from our home in southern Colorado to Klamath Falls Oregon for a family wedding. Along the way across Necada we stopped in Ely to visit the fabled Nevada Northern Railway. They weren't exactly open for tours. We just got the okay to wander around. Here are just a few of the photos I made of that visit, all taken on September 3, 2004. 1) The 93 was steamed up near the depot. 2) A couple dinosaurs in the shop. 3) My wife and a fellow from the historical society talking about the railroad.

I see where that engine has been restored to operating condition. And, 3) the thing that really caught my eye: A Janney coupler. My wife is a Janney and one of her ancestors from Virginia developed the 'modern' coupler. This was the only one I've ever seen with the name on it.
