I would hate to think that someone would want to toss it away.
At the time the GTW and the combined NW and Chessie were still contesting the fate of the DT&I before the ICC. Date: 04/10/26 20:10 Re: Throw Back Thursday - DT&I 251 Author: feclark That's a great shot. At first glance I registered this as another one of their GP38 variants, but then realized it was an SD38! Then it clicked that when GT acquired DT&I, they added a 6 to the front of the number, and I had shot this unit at CN's Walker Yard in Edmonton, AB, numbered 6251. The date was April 15, 1999, and it was one of a quartet of these units, 6251-6254, lined up dead west of the shops. You'll notice the distinctive DT&I spark arrestors are gone, as is the nose bell. At the time of publication of the Canadian Trackside Guide 1999 edition, 6250 was already retired, but not the other four. I'm going to put up a post of 6252-6254 in a few minutes on the Nostalgia & History board.
