Penn Central 4209 (ex-PRR E7A) and 4022 (ex-NYC E7A) with Trains 78 and 4, the combined Cincinnati Limited and Spirit of St. Louis, 20 min late (4:10 pm) in Indianapolis, IN (State Ave.) on March 25, 1971.
2. Penn Central Business Car 8 brings up the rear of the combined Cincinnati Limited and Spirit of St. Louis in Indianapolis, IN on March 25, 1971. Thanks for sharing, but at Indianapolis, you cannot consider the trains combined, the way I see it. I think they were combined for Columbus and east. I believe the Cincinnati Limited joined/separated in Columbus, or perhaps Xeina.

However, PC's deteriorating track conditions and Conrail's rationalization plans made the schedule unviable by the late 1970s.
