The tower was called UD Tower for the Joliet Station which was called Union Depot.

Marty's correct about the name. The tower is now a museum that you can visit and I urge you to do so. It's great.

Also referred to by old timers, in the 1970's, as C&A for Chicago and Alton crossing.
