Author: Pattenburg Back home after spending six days in New Hampshire and did manage to get trackside. It proved to be a welcome change of pace from what I normally see down here in New Jersey. So here I go…
Photo A- By sheer luck while crossing the tracks in Bartlett, a Conway Scenic RR work train was evidently dropping off some cars on the siding. CSR 252 is an EMD GP38 that was ex-MEC 252. Photo B- in 252’s consist was B&O hopper 829839 wearing its weathered lettering. The “New” date was 12-41. Photo C- Staying in Lincoln and getting ready to watch the fireworks show, a distant horn could be heard. Granite State’s RR’s # 105 was returning from being the motive power on Café Lafayette Dinner Train around 8:15 PM. GSRR 105 is an EMD SW1000 and ex-New Orleans Public Belt RR. Author: Pattenburg Photo D- The journey continues to Plymouth where parked behind the former B&M RR Depot, it was built in 1909, were parked two ex-Amtrak cars wearing the reporting marks MRLX (Mid America Railcar Leasing) 39906 (ex-ATSF 532) and MRLX 39907 (ex-ATSF 533). Both cars were built by Budd in 1956.
Photo E- Another oldie but goodie was NYC’s “Cold Harbor”. It was ex-C&O 1642 and features a faux "Pullman" or New York Central paint scheme used for tourist excursions. Photo F: With a stop in White River Junction, VT enabled me to get this roster shot of NECR 3845. It is an EMD GP38 and ex-GM&O 704. Built in August 1969, this is famous as the last active engine wearing the railroad's original Bahama blue and gold paint scheme from 1995. It's actually a Maine Central car that was leased to the B&O for a year in 1965; it was painted in the "B&O" scheme with the small ampersand, not the "13 great states" scheme that CSRR used.
