The first photo is much rarer than the second. The second was taken during a railfan excursion in 1939:

I live a short distance away from the site of the Cowell cement plant, where the second photo was taken. There's no trace of the massive plant and associated buildings, other than the bottom 2 feet of the originally 200 foot tall smokestack that was torn down in the 1990s (or early 2000s).  Now the area is a grassy park.  The only building left from the nearby company town of Cowell is the former firehouse, located today at the end of Prairie Willow Ct.  - Eric Blasko
