.   .   .   in JUL '76 Detroit and Toledo Shoreline 76 was leading a train northbound near Monroe, MI, with BiCentennial accessorized caboose 76 bringing up the rear. Strange the railroad had two pieces of equipment with the same number. Wonder how todays computers would handle that?

Great catch, saw those a few times myself back in the day. Human brains could handle the two numbers but not computers, lol...

New York Central had some passenger cars that duplicated locomotive numbers, too. Back when there were hordes of clerks to handle such matters.
