Flare Friday 1979
Author: MILW86A

Milwaukee Road Train 286 with a pair of leased CNW SD45s and some Milwaukee Power is seen eastbound on the CNW Main east of Lisbon, Iowa in December 1979. From December 1978 to March of 1980 Milwaukees Council Bluffs trains used the CNW from Clinton to Tama, IA. Milwaukee leased 10 CNW SD45s for use due to Automatic Train Control. The 286 trains came from the BN at Council Bluffs/Omaha and interesting here that there is no BN power on the train,.

Cool shot - thanks for sharing!

It's always a bit jarring to me seeing non-dynamic brake SD45s - looks like a 'normal' SD45 that went through some liposuction!!
