Nostalgia & History > When the SP 8000's were new...Date: 03/12/05 22:12 When the SP 8000's were new... Author: TexBob The 8000's were enjoyed much by me for their unique look and sound.
From what seems like a million years ago, a few views from when they were new... Dolores CA, Sept 13, 1987, having just delivered the AVAXT. Date: 03/12/05 22:14 Re: When the SP 8000's were new... As I remember the 8000's had Nathan K5H's. Tom Helliwell Date: 03/13/05 08:51 Re: When the SP 8000's were new... Author: TexBob I noticed the 3 chime horn also. I don't think it's a Leslie S3LR.
The bells are too short. The horn, IIRC, is a Nathan K3. Date: 03/13/05 15:32 Re: When the SP 8000's were new... Author: Evan_Werkema TexBob Wrote:

With that open, diamond-shaped manifold, it's definitely a Leslie or a Prime (Leslie clone). A K3 usually has a plain, straight manifold. I also recall K5H's on the 8000's. Hmmm...SP's B36-7's came with dual K5's (see thread below) that were soon replaced. Were the K5's simply transplanted to the B39-8's after delivery? Date: 03/14/05 14:13 Re: When the SP 8000's were new... Author: ProAmtrak Those B39s had the same type horn UPs 8-40Cs had when they were brand new, loud and all, but they eventually changed them!

Looks like the 8007 has some interesting weathering patterns after only one trip. Great shots! |
