KInda looks like Beaumont to me, with the dry riverbed to the right there.......

Yup, Pretty close to that boundary between the Eucalyptus trees of the LA Basin and the creosote bush scrub of the high desert. Bob

Hmmm, smoking U-Boats. How about on the Coast somewhere? Not enough visible through the exhaust to make a more specific guess.

Best regards,

Here's another shot not terribly far from the first picture...

Well I know where that is, I had a feeling the first photo was somewhere on or near this railroad, just wasn't sure.

Alright, if one gets to nitpicking then... Tijuana & Tecate.
But I do believe your second pic looks like the section in Mexico & the first one is on the US side of the border.

You're right! both on the T&T- I got on the train (#452-e/b) at the border (San Ysidro) so that yard limit sign was probably for Tijuana...most people looking at this wouldn't be thinking about Mexico...Cheers, Steve

Well, I was fortunate to have been able to travel over part of the line about 20 years ago. Only caught it once in SP days, but the lead locomotive was a GP-30 which made up for it. These exercises are fun, thanks.
