WALL. The quintessential tourist trap. Advertised by roadside signs in every state, on every continent, in every country, and probably in every language on the planet! The message is simple "Wall Drug", with an optional "Free ice water".

Matter of fact, I'll be there next Sunday. They also have some of the best carmel rolls on the planet.

Oh, and yes, to keep this on topic, th UP does still run there.

The 9512 was actually an OSL engine that was bumped by diesels in 1948, placed into service in Nebraska and soon renumbered into the 9063 to 9077 series.

Don't they wish! Actually the line through Wall is currently owned by DM&E, who is attempting to upgrade and extend the line to access the Powder River Basin, and compete with UP (and BNSF).

Our family got "trapped" by Wall during the summer of 1955. To say that we were somewhat underwhelmed by the place is an understatement. But it was kind of fun, in an odd sort of way, to finally arrive at the much-advertised Wall Drug.
