I ran a 23-car Santa Fe 3751 Steam Special on the Surfliner Route from Los Angeles to San Diego. Power is the famous Santa Fe 3751 Steam locomotive and an Amtrak P42DC #106 for HEP and extra power for Miramar Grade and 90mph running after Santa Ana.

Weight: 1921.32 Tons

Photo 4: Special arriving into Santa Ana at 25mph to provide photographic opportunity for people on the platform.
Photo 5: Special keeping a steady 90mph, allowing the 3751 to stretch her legs, with a little help from the Amtrak P42DC diesel.

Nobody's updated the Surfliner route, don't think anyone will until the new one comes out... I doubt anybody wants to touch the FPM Surfliner route either.

It creates for some good "nostalgia" though, which is what posting a dream of running the 3751 is all about ;)
