Shortline Sunday GMD-1
Author: kgmontreal

As shortlines go the Casco railway at Cardinal, Ontario is one of the shortest. Its one mile of track extends from their plant to an interchange with the CN's Kingston sub. Casco has had a number of locomotives over the years including CN #77 a 1929-built CLC/Westinghouse visibility cab switcher, a GE centre cab, various Alco/MLW S-series units, an ex-CNJ/Conrail RS-3m and the unit pictured here an ex-CN GMD-1. Currently they operate a leased MP15AC.

These shots of the GMD-1 were snapped in 2008.

One mile of track, that certainly is a shortline. Doug

From the oil streaks on the hood you can tell she idles a LOT!

Love the diesel, gutsy choice of colour, and very well shot. Thanks. I visited there twice, much earlier days, maybe I should scan in for the future.
