Canadian Railroads > Some More of Roger Puta's VIA Turbo Train Photos

1. "TURBO 85" in October 1980.

2. Roger was riding. Looks like he is looking toward the rear of the train in the Montreal area (?) in March of 1980.

3. and 4. Coming and Going in October 1980 Unit 146 is on the rear.

5. Coming really fast. UA Turbo Train 151 in September 1979.


I certainly would appreciate any location and other data assistance.

Number 2 is departing Montreal's Central Station on the viaduct. The last one is Coteau Jct.

Love #2, you can see CN's old freight line to the Port of Montreal at ground level at right.... replaced by a new ROW about 25 years ago.

Gorgeous photos! Though the photos of VIA 2 (146/151) labelled September 1979 can't be from September 1979. The strengthening modifications to the PDC (Power Dome Car) side sill weren't done until 1981, IIRC.

If I had to guess I would say those photos are spring/summer 1982.

OK - it looks like I was wrong about this.

I just found photos from Bill Morrison labelled August 1979 that show the exact same staining on 151 and the stiffeners in place.

So they must have been added in 1979 not 1981.
