Canadian Railroads > Former NYC observation cars on CP and Algoma CentralDate: 10/15/17 12:35 Former NYC observation cars on CP and Algoma Central Author: eminence_grise CP acquired several round end stainless steel observation cars from the NYC in 1959.
By 1967, car "Seaview" was stored serviceable at Montreal's Glen yard. The cars acquired by CP had both normal size observation windows and the taller windows which characterized these cars on the New York Central. I believe this car on steam at Algoma Centrals Sault Ste.Marie ON Steelton yard in 1976 is a former NYC and CP car also. Anyone know more history of these cars? Notice how the trim line above the name board curves down to mirror the trim line rising after the name board to clear the higher windows. Great atmosphere in that shot, too.
