Strange Pair

The weirdest power consist I've seen lately was this GP35-SW1500 combination on yesterday's Quebec Gatineau Lachute sub freight. The SW was not just along for the ride. It was mu'ed and pulling.

That was a daily lash up in Southern Pacific days.

2502 is a former Southern Pacific GP35. I guess old habits don't go away.

There is so much to like in these shots, especially the first one. One thing that jumps out at me is how clean and weed-free the right of way seems to be. You can shoot trains without needing your garden shears to trim it up ahead of time. I'm envious!

It looks like 7+ idler cars on either side of that tank car for crew protection! LOL!
