Diesel Light Rail in Ottawa
Author: ghCBNS

I recently had a 3 hr layover at Ottawa Airport so decided on a quick round trip on OC Transpo's 'O Train' Diesel LRT 'Trillium Line'

A 10 min bus ride got me from the Airport to Greenboro Station where the Trilliam Line runs every 12 minutes and takes about 15 minutes to Bayview Station.

The track used is former CP and here you can where it extended (now severed) beyond Bayview to the Prince of Wales Bridge and Hull/Gatineau, Quebec.

And south of Bayview towards the Airport. (Any freight customers left on this portion? )The Trillium line will eventually reach the MacDonald-Cartier International Airport:

Ottawa also has another major LRT (electric) project under construction and due to open next year.....the 'Confederation Line'

Interesting. Image 2, wonder what the sign with the rail profile means?

The acronym "Indusi" refers to the German PZB intermittent inductive train control system. A form of PTC.

Assuming this is the remnant of CP's Prescott Sub you're referring to, I'd guess this is still the rail access to NRC's Upland's research facility, where they can do squeeze tests of railcars and so on. The CP dynamometer car used to live there. Not a freight customer per se.

Yes…..the old Prescott Sub and I guess what I thought might have been a freight customer is the NRC....and you can see some cars around the facility in this google view.

Whose engine would run over the Capital Railway’s LRT route through Greenboro to switch the NRC facility?
