Canadian Railroads > MLW Monday - Uphill SlowlyDate: 11/20/17 05:24 MLW Monday - Uphill Slowly Author: kgmontreal West of Montreal on CP's double track mainline the first obstacle to slow a freight trains's progress is St Lazare Hill, a grade from Dorion to St Lazare. Today the grade barely slows a pair of AC4400s but in first generation diesel days it dragged down westbound freights. Shown here is a mixed freight in the spring of 1974 behind an RS-18/RS-10 combo pullling hard as its smoke show illustrates.
