Exploring the CN Takla Sub

On our way to Fairbanks, we made a left turn in Prince George and ended up in Fort Saint James today. I wanted to actually see the tracks of the Takla Sub and I got what I wished. The images show the beginning of the Takla Sub, by the Apollo Lumber Company mill (whose spur is the track to the right), a stop sign about a half-mile north of that switch and the first public crossing north of there. No trains today, tomorrow or who knows when!

Good news is that we got back to Prince George (after some discussion about continuing west and taking the Cassiar hwy north) in time to see the regional museum. The 6001 is impressive!

Thanks for the update. The red flag and the rusted rail speaks volumes.

Here's a video clip from YouTube suggesting the traffic had been very seasonal. or contractual. How else could such a big log train show up in the middle of winter. Just some local wondering around in the snow one day in 2008:
