Actually seems sensible to me...when a sign says no trespassing it's usually several metres from the track....so exactly where is trespassing actually? Putting it on the track says to me 'stay off the track'.

they are notoriously poor on paying their fines for criminal trespass. Maybe this will help.

Aren't most folks walking around with their heads down checking on the personal communications devices?  This may help lower the carnage!

This is how they appear in Japan.  These signs are in the track gauge on either side of pedestrian walkways.

I recently talked to a CN track inspector, he avised the painted no trespassing was necessary as the signs were being stolen as fast as they put them up.
Post and all apparently!
