Canadian Railroads > Yet another new 2019 schedule for the Canadian

A friend who has no computer asked me about the new schedule for the Canadian effective the end of April 2019. I told him that VIA has a warning that the times shown on Reservia are tentative and bookings were not being made.

This morning I noticed that the times have changed again. Bookings still cannot be made - or fares quoted.

A few highlights: departure of #1 from Toronto will now be 09:30, which was the time in effect for many years. It was going to be 14:00 instead of the current 22:00. Arrival in Vancouver is scheduled for 08:00. The departures from Winnipeg and Edmonton were going to be in the middle of the night. The new times are more reasonable - as long as the train is not late. Winnipeg departure will be 21:30. Number 1 will sit in Edmonton from 20:50 to 00:01. The arrival in Jasper is rather early at 06:30.

Number 2 will depart Vancouver at 15:00 (it was going to be 17:00; the current time is 12:00) with Toronto arrival at 15:00 instead of 19:00.

Anyone wanting to check the new times for any points will find them on the booking site Reservia.

Better for Winnipeg and Edmonton, for sure!  Thanks to whomever got rid of the 03:45 departure westbound.

Well, lets see if CN will let them keep that schedule.

Question -- What does the On-Board Service Crew number in Winter & Summer... 
10 to 22 car consist? 

The morning Toronto departure necessitates adding an additional night to the trip and expensive Toronto hotel for anyone coming from Windsor, Quebec or elsewhere outapside the TO area. The current schedule allows for same day connections.
