CN 8165 taken September 1978.  Not sure of the location, looking at other slides taken that day I think this is somewhere in Toronto, ON  then again it almost feels like the east end of Hamilton.  Ah who cares eh??

another source has confirmed this image is in the east end of Hamilton, ON in the area of Burlington and Wellington Street.

Did footboards last longer here than in the US?  Judging by which direction the brakeman is facing, the engine is probably moving in reverse, but it still gives me the willies to look at that!

Image taken 1978, footboards were around for awhile after that.
