Siemens getting VIA equipment order?

There are some reports today that Siemens, not Bombardier, will get the $1 billion order for new VIA equipment:

Well, I doubt that the new equipment will replace the RDCs running on the Sudbury-White River route (as pictured in the article).

Bombardier should be banned from bidding!
Bombardier is like the gang that couldn't shoot straight. Just ask the Toronto Transit Commission ...

NJT is hopelessly loyal to Bombardier.

I think some of the existing Corridor equipment, sans REN fleet, will be repurposed for the Ocean and other off-corridor services like RDC replacements, and if it ever happens, Halifax locals and Sarnia shuttles.
