Why would anyone move to the Cowichan Valley? Did the engineer lean out the window to see what was ahead? Amazing. For modellers, note the air line on the roof has two different configurations, to make a fleet more interesting, and GP9 4214 with GP7-style louvre sets under the radiator grilles and cab.

Are you assuming the short hood is the front? Because CN GP9's were set up for long hood forward operation.

They did run both ways, but of course, you're right. This consist makes sense that way, having come in from arwye's right to the Sarcee Yard.

Looks like 4214 was trailing unit. So long hood forwards looks correct. Cab buttoned up and snow looks swirled on short hood end. Coupler looks freshly opened.
