Canadian Railroads > NS power into the Port of MontrealDate: 01/09/19 18:23 NS power into the Port of Montreal Author: Mberry The NS run-through train that goes to and from Montreal (CN 528/529) shifted to a nocturnal run most of the time since last summer, with CN 528 leaving Montreal after suppertime and the same crew returning from Rouses Point, NY with CN 529 in the middle of the night. While this is mostly unfortunate for railfans, one positive is that CN generally uses the power during the layover, very often on yard job CN 543. This job is kind of a jack of all trades job, and often goes to the Port of Montreal during the day with extra tonnage. Twice since the star tof the year I caught CN 543 entering the port with NS power.
1-On January 3rd, NS 9641 & NS 8022 lead CN 543 with mixed freight past out of use grain elevator #5. 2-On January 9th, NS 6982 & NS 9194 lead 4,000 feet worth of stacks on CN 543 past the same spot.
