Saturday morning at Dorval
Author: Mberry

I was at Dorval on Saturday morning as I knew two eastbounds (CN 310 and X106) were coming in quick succession. It was a sunny but very cold and VERY windy morning (on the scanner, I heard CP 253 being temporarily held on the South Shore of the St. Lawrence river before crossing to Montreal due to a wind warning).

1-First up was CN 310 with SD70I CN 5616 and ex-CSXT Dash8-40CW GECX 7303 for power.

2-Less than 20 minutes later CN X106 showed up (in the interim CN 149 had passed on the south track, a tough and backlit shot that I did not attempt). Power was CN 2962 and CN 3012.

3-Near the rear of the train, distributed braking container CN 0005 was helping CN X106 maintain its air. CN has a number of these, as well as distributed braking cars built from boxcars.

4-Still wearing a VIA 40 wrap, VIA 910 is leading VIA 63, stopped to take on passengers as CN X106 heads east.

5-Just behind VIA 63 was VIA 633. I was glad it had a tail end unit, as the lighting was perfect at that end. VIA 6405 brings up the rear of this Ottawa train, up front was VIA 914.

Great shots - especially #1.
Nice to see old searchlight signal bridges that have survived (so far).
