Canadian Railroads > A few at Winnipeg - night - Dec 80

I was riding the Super Continental from Vancouver-Toronto.
At Winnipeg the SC combined with the Canadian (arrived 1-2 hours earlier) to - I believe - Sudbury.
The engines would be replaced but have not arrived yet on this very cold night.

(2) The SC consist is on the left.
The end car - 9488 - was a baggage dorm with an interesting history.
It was built by P-S in 1948 as a 22 roomette car for the NYC (Pigeon Bay).

(3) The Canadian used diner Fairholme (Budd 1955-CP) this evening.

Classic ! That's what still should be happening today !
But alas the government keeps on pouring money into Westjet and Air Canada with there indirect subsidies ...
