A rare move
Author: Mberry

This past Sunday morning I caught the Pointe St-Charles switcher switching a track in its namesake neighbourhood in Montreal that serves just a single client and only sees rare movements towards this one customer (a P&H mill). The track is called "Bridge Street Track PD10" in the CN timetable, as it crosses busy Bridge Street (which leads to the train/auto Victoria Bridge).

1-The conductor and brakeman walk the point as the train slowly approaches the crossing, which they will flag.

2-GMTX 2257 is shoving ten grain cars towards the P&H mill, the last car is an ex-Pillsbury car which has been so tagged.

3-An impatient driver has already passed the crossing as the power clears Bridge Street.

4-The crew ties the cars down as the power uncouples from the train.

5-The single unit now crosses Bridge Street again and will soon be back in the nearby Pointe St- Charles Yard.

6-A going away shot shows the unit heading towards the yard and about to duck under the passenger-only portion of CN's St-Hyacinthe Sub, which sees VIA Rail, Amtrak and Exo trains.

Very nice photo sequence, in an interesting area of Montreal. Love the motive power, too!

Your third shot, with the impatient driver, is so perfectly framed, every element just so, and pleasing lines.
