Canadian Railroads > MLW MondayDate: 06/03/19 03:32 MLW Monday Author: hoggerdoug A photo from Ron Tuff and posted with his permission. July 1982 CP 4249 is leading the "east local" at Kinnear on the TH&B main in Hamilton, Ontario. There were two other CP units as well as three TH&B units trailing. Ron is not sure if the CP units were assisting the train up the escarpment or were used at Smithville to haul some empty rock cars east to Welland. He saw the train at Smithville and the CP units were not seen in the area.
Of other interest in the photo, on the left is the old brick kilns and the chimneys. Also somewhat overgrown with vines is CPR 5361 a Mikado. It had been there a long time and eventually was sold to Western New York Railway Historical Society in Depew NY. Also I recall an assortment other equipment in storage there, when it was decided to move and scrap the equipment, it was discovered that all the journal brasses were missing on the side opposite the roadway. Price of brass was high. Doug Date: 06/04/19 16:07 Re: MLW Monday Author: feclark That's a really nice composition, including avoiding weeds in the shot. Nice post.
