For Father's Day: An all-BC Rail consist on CN hot intermodal
Author: Marcus

A gift from CN for Father's Day.

Fifteen years after BC Rail was swallowed up by CN,
someone at CN thought they'd put together two old BC Rail war horses,
and stick them on one of the railroad's hottest intermodal trains.

June 15, 2019
North Kamloops, B.C.
CN 101 = BCOL 4613 & BCOL 4612,
crossing the North Thompson River,
just before sunset.

The force is with you on this one.

Those BCOL units really get around! Shame they don't seem to get any love from CN.

BC Rail, gone but not forgotten. Those units soldier on.

That is wild. I was just thinking of finally weathering my model of one of them because I'm working on a CN stack train and could have it for power, but also was thinking it would be out of date by this point, and it should be an ES44DC and ET44AC - you proved that wrong! I've been watching the Waupaca, WI CN camera a lot and noted too that almost all road freights now have SD70ACe's or ES44-somethings for power, and very little of CN's older fleet appears. That contrasts to often seeing CN's transfers through Chicago, which do get that older 6 axle power, and I saw one of the BC Rail C40-8M's on one last week, along with an IC SD70.

Ver rarely. There is a photograph of it lifted in the Kamloops Museum collection, with lots of people standing on the bridge. I wonder if that was the day it was completed.
