Train M383 derailed 40+ cars and a DPU in the tunnel Friday morning, June 28, including loaded autoracks and a tank car that lost its entire 13.700-gallon load of sulphuric acid. The spill was entirely contained within the tunnel, but surely complicated the recovery effort. Nobody was injured. Container trains have been detouring via CSX between Toledo and Buffalo while using not-typical-for-stacks CN lines between Detroit-Toledo and Buffalo-Bayview Jct. Some manifest traffic has been detouring over NS between Buffalo and Detroit. Other CN freights have been running through the now-CP, ex-CASO Detroit River Tunnel and taking either the Chatham Sub or the CP west of London, and some traffic is even detouring the long way around to Chicago via Winnipeg. None of these routes has been particularly fast. Date: 07/08/19 04:15 Re: Port Huron Tunnel Reroutes Author: DundasMP23 122 has EMDX 1606 leading today.
